What The Common Good Inc does
Mission
The common good works to assist low income families in northwest tulsa through five essential initiatives: education, career development, mental health, advocacy and sports programs.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Senior support program: we host 40 to 50 senior adults from the neighborhood each morning at our work out room and cafe. The seniors have exercise programs, have access to our exercise equipment, and are fed either a meal or snack each morning. This helps build community for the seniors in the neighborhood, in addition to providing healthy choices for them. We also have seniors walking in the gym, playing table tennis, working puzzles, cards and dominos most mornings.
$113,819 spent11% of program spendingAfterschool learning center: the common good has an afterschool learning program for children at wayman tisdale academy, a public elementary school in tulsa school district. The learning center is designed for children that have been affected by "trauma" that affects their learning and emotional state. We typically have 80 children every school day for 3 hours afterschool. The children's ages are 7 through 11 or elementary school ages.
$726,201 spent71% of program spendingSports programs: the common good started the year with basketball programs for children in the wayman tisdale academy area. The basketball programs conducted league play for over 75 children. In addition, we held soccer practice and team games during the spring and summer with over 50 kids participating. We have "open gym" night five nights a week for younger kids and for middle school aged kids. In addition, sports are introduced to our kids attending the afterschool learning center each day.
$170,983 spent17% of program spendingHealth equity and nutrition: the common good addresses disparities in access to nutritious food that result in unequal health outcomes. Tcg produces fresh vegetables in a grow pod and through community gardens to distribute to the neighborhood. In addition, we partner with other non profits to provide over 400 families a month with fresh vegetables both grown from our facilities and provided by other local suppliers.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $1.2M to $1.7M (+36%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 11% · 2023 11% · 2024 13%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
100% of THE COMMON GOOD INC’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (81% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2019 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 16 funders, grant income rose $111k → $467k.
8 of 29 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 50% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of THE COMMON GOOD INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 28 of 29 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
THE COMMON GOOD INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 34% of grant income and the top three 69%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
67% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE COMMON GOOD INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2019 90% · 2020 84% · 2021 39% · 2022 58% · 2023 39% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
60% of THE COMMON GOOD INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 62% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
50% of THE COMMON GOOD INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $1.3M that is directly attributable, 61% of it comes from Oklahoma funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1.3M arriving through sponsors registered in 8 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

These figures are read directly from IRS Form 990 / 990-PF e-file XML: this organization’s own return for FY2024 (financials across 2020–2024), and the filings of 29 funders that report grants to it. “On record” means captured in the filings we have parsed — a funder that does not e-file, or whose grant detail is not itemized, will not appear. Filings run roughly 12–24 months behind. Trends on this page end at FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving; later years are shown and marked, and move no figure.
