01What it does

What Society of St Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy of North Texas does

Mission

To provide free health-sustaining prescription medications to lower-income, uninsured Texans.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy, which opened in 2018, is the first free-standing pharmacy in the state of Texas that provides lifesaving medications to the uninsured free of charge. Many residents of Texas cannot afford the necessary prescription medications to maintain their chronic, treatable conditions like diabetes, asthma and heart disease. The inability to sustain health affects the ability to maintain steady employment, care for family and escape poverty. It also contributes to increased costs across the health care system as unreimbursed emergency services become primary health care for those who cannot afford medication. We exist to serve those who cannot afford to sustain their health. The Pharmacy provided 91,975 30-day equivalent prescriptions to 3,598 unique patients free of charge with a total value of $30,343,947 (Average Wholesale Pricing valuation method).

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 9 funders, grant income rose $0 → $145k.

9 of 23 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 31% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $217k from one payer (the payer shares this organization's board, largest Society of St Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Dallas Inc). These are real filings, and they are not money SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHARITABLE PHARMACY OF NORTH TEXAS raised.

From the IRS filings of SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHARITABLE PHARMACY OF NORTH TEXAS’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 20 of 23 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHARITABLE PHARMACY OF NORTH TEXAS has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 19% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

81% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHARITABLE PHARMACY OF NORTH TEXAS.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $361k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
