What Accelerated Cure Project Inc does
Mission
The organization's mission is to accelerate research efforts to improve diagnosis, to optimize treatment, and to cure multiple sclerosis.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Scientific collaboration aims to accelerate progress towards a cure for multiple sclerosis (ms) and to improve health, healthcare and quality of life for people affected by ms by stimulating and enabling research, through the provision of much-needed resources, and creating networking opportunities across all ms stakeholders to spark new ideas and catalyze unforeseen connections. A key component of this program is the iconquerms people-powered research network in which the input and data contributed by network participants shapes and accelerates research on topics that matter most to people affected by ms.
$2,003,638 spent89% of program spendingCommunity building: we have an extensive community of participating ms stakeholders consisting of people with ms, their friends and families, clinicians, scientists and researchers, ms-related corporations, and other interested parties. Email updates on the progress of research, collaboration, and other information of interest are sent out regularly. Production of a seasonal newsletter is distributed quarterly. Our group of volunteers has formed a core community of active helpers. Our connections to people affected by ms and other ms stakeholders are essential for building and accelerating research through our biobank/repository and iconquerms people-powered research network.
$60,339 spent3% of program spendingTissue bank/repository: we have recruited over 3,000 subjects with and without ms and other demyelinating diseases who have donated blood samples and provided medical and epidemiological data that are stored in the repository and made available to researchers in exchange for the data they generate from their studies that use the samples. The goal of the repository is to provide researchers with access to a large number of biological samples and data, that would otherwise not be available, and to the aggregated data that is generated from the studies in order that they can determine the causes and mechanisms of ms and related diseases and the effects of treatments.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2018 to 2019, from $996k to $1.6M (+56%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2022 3% · 2023 12% · 2024 26%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
78% of ACCELERATED CURE PROJECT INC’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (51% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 6 funders to 16 funders, grant income rose $196k → $745k.
10 of 30 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 13% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of ACCELERATED CURE PROJECT INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
ACCELERATED CURE PROJECT INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 63% of grant income and the top three 79%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
77% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ACCELERATED CURE PROJECT INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 51% · 2018 65% · 2019 61% · 2020 54% · 2021 59% · 2022 75% · 2023 78% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
42% of ACCELERATED CURE PROJECT INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 67% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
ACCELERATED CURE PROJECT INC draws 86% of its grant income from funders outside Massachusetts, across 12 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $618k arriving through sponsors registered in 9 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
