01What it does

What Pregnancy Care Center does

Mission

The purpose of the Pregnancy Care Center is to save lives and strengthen families by providing hope and practical help to women and men facing unplanned pregnancy as well as presenting healthy relationship education to equip teens to make healthy choices.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The client services program offers a holistic approach to strengthening families, at no cost to our clients. The services include one-on-one coaching for males and females, group classes, and our choices program, which teaches relational health and sexual integrity to area students. Through the client services program, we can offer our clients free, confidential services, including: - one-on-one coaching and support services for male and female clients, which help build strong family relationships. Coaches support clients as they navigate their unique circumstances by offering emotional support and referrals to in-house or community resources specific to each client's needs. - group classes on a wide range of topics, offered to clients and the community at large. All classes are taught by subject matter experts such as registered nurses (rns), attorneys, and licensed professional counselors (lpcs). We currently offer more than 100 classes, in person and online, that cover topics such as pregnancy, parenting, healthy relationships, and practical life skills like budgeting and nutrition. The goal of this education is to equip each person with the information and skills needed to…

  2. The medical services program provides pregnancy testing and limited obstetric ultrasounds with the oversight of a medical director, a local licensed, board-certified ob/gyn. Our chief nursing officer and staff registered nurses (rns) work alongside the coaches to provide medical information to clients. Our clients' feedback helps us measure success. We provide accurate, timely medical information to assist them with making informed decisions regarding their pregnancies. If they feel they have the information and resources they need to make those decisions, we consider that a success. In 2024, the medical services program served clients with 582 pregnancy tests and 480 ultrasounds. After amendment 3 passed, we have implemented a more extensive medical model for these clients, including connecting them with one of our staff rns as early in the process as possible, usually during the first phone call, text, or website inquiry. The nurse works closely with that client, providing medical services, limited coaching, and resource referrals (not abortion) until she has made a pregnancy decision. For those clients that decide to continue their pregnancy, we then enroll them in our…

  3. Through the community education program, we provide relevant information concerning pcc's mission, approach, services, and impact within our service area, with a main goal of increasing awareness within our primary client demographic, young people aged 19-24. One of the primary ways we measure success in this program is tracking the number of clients we serve and how that compares to past years, especially in light of current marketing and outreach efforts. Much of our approach centers around our online presence through our websites and social media pages. We also maintain a presence on each of the four major college campuses, which allows us to increase awareness within our primary demographic. Other methods we use include building strong referral and collaborative relationships with other local nonprofit agencies, medical providers, and businesses at community events and forums. We ask each client, on our intake paperwork, how they heard about pcc to gauge how successful we are in increasing awareness. In 2024, pcc's campus ambassador program experienced continued success in reaching students with information about pcc's services and resources. We continued to distribute free,…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 6 funders to 9 funders, grant income rose $105k → $289k.

7 of 30 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 6% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PREGNANCY CARE CENTER’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 29 of 30 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

PREGNANCY CARE CENTER leans on a few funders — its largest provides 59% of grant income and the top three 88%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

93% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PREGNANCY CARE CENTER.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $109k arriving through sponsors registered in 7 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
