Mission

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Youth development: our ymca is commited to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all youth deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That is why we help young people cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Our ymca programs, such as "splash" water safety classes, summer day camp, and fine arts programming, offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth. Efforts to broaden the accessibility of our youth membership and program participation include subsidies and direct financial assistance that make participation possible for more than one third of the young people we engage.

We bring families closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun, and shared interests. As a result, people in our community are receiving the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind, and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with obesity, work/life balance issues and individual searches for personal fulfillment. Our programs are accessible, affordable and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. In addition to providing financial assistance to people who otherwise may not have been able to afford to participate, the ymca provides subsidized memberships for seniors, military veterans and community groups.

We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs for more than 125 years. Ymca programs, such as "achieve", "youth in government and "vita", are examples of how we deliver training, resources and support that empower our neighbors to effect change, bridge gaps and overcome obstacles. In 2024, we engaged ymca members, participants, and volunteers in activities that stregthen our community and pave the way for future generations to thrive.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2018 to 2019, from $2.1M to $3.7M (+74%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 7 of the last 8 reported years ran a deficit.

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 5 funders, grant income rose $20k → $104k.
4 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
Left out of every figure on this page: $160k from one payer (the payer shares this organization's board, largest YMCA Foundation of Metropolitan El Paso). These are real filings, and they are not money YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF EP raised.
From the IRS filings of YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF EP’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF EP leans on a few funders — its largest provides 45% of grant income and the top three 82%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
89% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF EP.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 74% · 2018 82% · 2019 69% · 2020 65% · 2021 42% · 2022 71% · 2023 62% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
44% of YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF EP's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 53% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
50% of YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF EP's grant income comes from Texas funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $55k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
