What Three Little Pitties Rescue does
Mission
Three Little Pitties Rescue is revolutionizing animal welfare for dogs and cats in texas. We have created pathways to permanent, safe, and loving homes through adoption, transport and spay/neuter services.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Adoptions program: at a time when there is not a single open intake shelter in the 4th largest city in america, we are taking in almost 3,000 animals a year! We are set up to say "yes" to thousands of dogs that have no hope - large, power breeds, pregnant or nursing dogs, orthopedic or other medical cases, heartworm positive, and more. Our approach to adoptions is unique - we aim to intimately know our animals behaviorally to make the best match possible. We are the only rescue in the greater houston area to have a full time behavior team, including a trainer and k9 coaches who assess behavior and create plans to transform dogs into highly adoptable family members. We are the "complete package" in the rescue world. We fully vet and spay or neuter every dog and cat, and in 2023 we successfully placed 2,359 animals with families! Our return rate is less than 1%.
$2,057,917 spent$1,470,354 earned by the program84% of program spendingTransport program: Three Little Pitties Rescue has been successfully transporting dogs from the greater houston area to eager adopters in the pacific northwest (pnw) and northeastern us since 2018. Our specially equipped usda certified fleet travels every two weeks taking between 100 and 120 animals directly to the arms of their new families. In 2023 we safely transported over 2,300 animals to their new homes.
$388,238 spent$23,200 earned by the program16% of program spendingCommunity outreach: throughout the year, our volunteers are out and about doing service in underserved communities. Recognizing that adoption will not solve the problem of overpopulation and crowded shelters, we added community outreach to our mission statement and now have a director of that program. Our team has supported events like houston petset vaccine clinics, empty the shelters, as well as s.a.v.e rescue in brazoria county by doing education in schools. We partner with groups such as unity for a solution, fix texas, forgotten pet advocates, empty the shelter project, k-angels, defenders of animals and laurel's house. We have a dedicated staff member who transports owned animals to free spay and neuter appointments for families in the community needing assistance. We regularly gather our volunteers and do "block walks" to educate owners about the importance of vaccines and spaying and neutering dogs. We offer free vaccines, flea prevention, food and basic medical care, and will sign owned animals up for free spay and neuter services as our budget allows. We assist smaller rescues with transport services, taking their animals along on our trips to other states.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2019, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2019, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $795k to $1.3M (+67%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2019 0% · 2020 0% · 2021 1% · 2022 0% · 2023 0% · 2024 0%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
40% of THREE LITTLE PITTIES RESCUE’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (74% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 4 funders to 25 funders, grant income rose $24k → $485k.
12 of 51 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 39% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of THREE LITTLE PITTIES RESCUE’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 51 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
THREE LITTLE PITTIES RESCUE has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 18% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left
55% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THREE LITTLE PITTIES RESCUE.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 63% · 2019 72% · 2020 49% · 2021 64% · 2022 41% · 2023 31% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
44% of THREE LITTLE PITTIES RESCUE's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 39% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
THREE LITTLE PITTIES RESCUE draws 55% of its grant income from funders outside Texas, across 16 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $895k arriving through sponsors registered in 11 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
