What The Global Village Project Inc does

Mission

The global village project, inc. Is an innovative special purpose school for refugee girls and young women with interrupted schooling. The organization's mission is to develop a strong educational foundation for each student within a caring community using a strengths-based approach and intensive instruction in english language and literacy, academic subjects, and the arts.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. In the 2024-2025 school year, the global village project enrolled 45 students, all of whom are girls between the ages of 11-17 who have recently arrived in the us through the refugee resettlement program and have had significant gaps in their formal education due to war and conflict. Our educational model is built on four pillars: (1) intensive english language and literacy (2) science, technology, engineering, art and math (3) social emotional learning and (4) mentoring and alumni engagement. We saw tremendous growth and success for our students across all 4 pillars. English language acquisition is core to every class at gvp. Building vocabulary, fluency, and expression is critical across all subject matters. In 2024-2025, our students advanced an average of 1.3 levels in reading, and 83% of students met or exceeded their reading goal. In our science curriculum, students studied subjects such as weather cycles, human anatomy and the environment. In math, students advanced up to 3 grade levels during the school year advancing from basic numeracy and calculations to geometry and pre-algebra. In social studies students studied ancient civilizations, learned about human rights, and…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 11 funders to 37 funders, grant income rose $237k → $3.1M.

17 of 86 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 26% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE GLOBAL VILLAGE PROJECT INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 86 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE GLOBAL VILLAGE PROJECT INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 30% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

28% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE GLOBAL VILLAGE PROJECT INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $2.7M arriving through sponsors registered in 11 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
