01What it does

What The Citizens Foundation USA does

Mission

Tcf-usa provides quality education for underprivileged children in pakistan. The goal is to build civil society and promote gender equality. An all-female faculty encourages parents to enroll their girls, while simultaneously creating employment opportunities as teachers and principals for thousands of women. Tcf graduates are provided support for college and vocational training.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Annual operating expenses of schools:in 2024, tcf-usa provided operational support for 534 tcf schools. This support enabled the provision of quality education to underprivileged children across pakistan. Operational expenses covered the effective functioning of schools, including salaries for principals, trained teachers, and administrative staff. Funding also supported transportation services, particularly for female teachers, serving in remote and underserved areas. Additionally, higher education scholarships totaling $1.33 million were awarded to graduating tcf students to enable them to pursue degrees in varied fields such as journalism, business, engineering, medicine and health care.

These scholarship endowments help deserving graduates pursue university and professional degrees, extending the organization's impact beyond secondary education.tcf-usa supports strategic projects and programs that enhance the learning environment and improve community well-being. These include public-private partnership initiatives, installation of solar panels to reduce energy costs and environmental impact, and the development of water filtration plants at school sites. Notably, in the case of water plants, both students and surrounding community members benefit from access to clean drinking water.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 28 funders to 68 funders, grant income rose $1.2M → $5.0M.

38 of 155 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 84% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE CITIZENS FOUNDATION USA’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 155 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE CITIZENS FOUNDATION USA leans on a few funders — its largest provides 31% of grant income and the top three 63%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

85% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE CITIZENS FOUNDATION USA.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

84% of THE CITIZENS FOUNDATION USA's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $5.2M that is directly attributable, 90% of it comes from funders outside Texas, across 29 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $27M arriving through sponsors registered in 17 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
