01What it does

What The Be Org Inc does

Mission

To encourage and nurture youth to live above their socially imposed limitations; to develop their character, talents and leadership skills allowing them to go beyond a dream and achieve remarkable excellence.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Character education/stem programming - took place for over 130 students through continued relationships with the y of central md, moravia park elementary school and charles carrol barriester elementary school. Highlights of the program include using stem experiments to create modalities for emotional regulation and incorporating game play for more student engaged activity based learning.

  2. Gea - girls empowerment academy, during our recent girls empowerment academy, girls participated in a trip to the new lexington market. This was an intentional opportunity for them to immerse themselves into the larger baltimore community and experience it through a new lens. The sessions prior to the visit were dedicated to preparation for the visit. These sessions included watching season 4 of the go daddy made in america series entitled made in baltimore. The series included a deep dive into the back stories, resilience, determination and enterpreneurial spirit of several baltimore based small businesses and owners. Gea culminated with a womens fireside chat focusing on local women leaders in baltimore and a charge to our girls to embrace their own leadership.

  3. Be virtual - be. Virtual is the flagship program of the be org, bolstering support on both a local and national level. The overall growth of be virtual is our biggest success, within the past year. We have grown from only having a summer youth works partnership to two sessions of weekly after school programming at two separate sites. At connexions academy, cohort 1 students have increased the visibility and reputation within the school. The program has supported 65 students from west baltimore, md throughout the school year and summer.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 15 funders, grant income rose $5k → $426k.

5 of 23 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 9% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE BE ORG INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE BE ORG INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 23% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

67% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE BE ORG INC.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $127k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
