01What it does

What PowerMyLearning Inc does

Mission

We design evidence-based programs, innovative tools, and professional learning that reveal how students think about mathematics, giving educators deeper insights that save time and improve instruction. For more than 25 years, PowerMyLearning has partnered with schools and districts across the country to strengthen math learning, particularly for multilingual learners and students from historically underserved communities. Our programs are backed by a robust evidence base, including statistically significant impact on math achievement for K-5 students.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. PowerMyLearning works hand-in-hand with educators to foster equitable learning environments that empower each student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Over the past year, we provided professional learning and coaching to K-12 teachers and school leaders across multiple schools and districts, helping them strengthen their instructional practices in math. Our programs have led to improvements in student learning and teacher practices. We continue to prioritize working in historically marginalized communities, ensuring that educators and students receive the support they need to succeed. Additionally, we are expanding efforts to support schools and districts in implementing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in math to improve student outcomes, particularly for underserved districts, schools and students.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 26 funders to 28 funders, grant income rose $1.7M → $2.7M.

19 of 88 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 9% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PowerMyLearning Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 88 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

PowerMyLearning Inc has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 19% of grant income, and it takes 5 funders to reach half.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

42% of PowerMyLearning Inc's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 64% give in more than one year at all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $2.3M arriving through sponsors registered in 15 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
