01What it does

What Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Assoc does

Mission

The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association cultivates a future in which sustainable and organic farmers thrive, local food nourishes our communities, and agricultural practices protect and enhance our environment.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. OEFFA grew farmer know-how through high quality educational programs designed to help producers meet new challenges and succeed. Farm tours featured pasture-based livestock, specialty crops, and more. We provided beginning farmers training and mentoring on business and financial management, supported aspiring farmers to gain hands on experience, and provided direct technical assistance to producers transitioning to certified organic production. Our members and supporters engaged in grassroots advocacy at the state and federal levels to ensure policies that support and benefit sustainable and organic family-scale farmers are enacted.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base narrowed from 9 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $136k → $193k.

7 of 24 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 16% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $266k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
