What Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas does

Mission

Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas, inc. (habitat) a not-for-profit organization located in las vegas, nevada was established in 1990. Habitat's purpose is to build low cost houses with the help of the homeowner families, which are transferred to the families at no profit and financed by habitat with affordable, no-interest loans.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

Since 1991, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas (hfhlv) has been building affordable housing in the las vegas community and has provided safe, secure shelter for over 121 local low-to-moderate income families - 418 people, including 264 children - while also completing 87 neighborhood revitalization projects in the same areas in which we built homes. In 2022, habitat expanded their program delivery and began providing financial education courses to local low-to-middle income people and have held 142 classes and assisted 155 households to organize their finances. We bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We meet the needs of the low-to-moderate income families today while transforming their lives for years to come. We focus on building entire communities on previously vacant in-fill lots in clark county; redevelopment zones not suitable for a private developer. Then, using a rigorous selection, education and financial coaching process, we fill the homes with families who…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base held at 4 funders, grant income rose $163k → $213k.

8 of 24 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 46% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HABITAT FOR HUMANITY LAS VEGAS’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 23 of 24 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY LAS VEGAS leans on a few funders — its largest provides 38% of grant income and the top three 77%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

80% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HABITAT FOR HUMANITY LAS VEGAS.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1.2M arriving through sponsors registered in 7 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
