01What it does

What Cuisine for Healing does

Mission

Cuisine for Healing is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting the healing power of food by cooking organic, nutritious, delicious meals readily available to people combating life-threatening diseases, and offering educational resources to enable the individuals to make lifestyle changes to improve their well-being and long-term health.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Cfh is addressing the need for organic, delicious, immune-boosting meals and the nutritional resources needed by tarrant county residents on all 41 municipalities in tarrant county's 902 square miles, who are battling life-threatening illnesses. Meals, ingredients, and nutritional values are continually reviewed and researched for optimal health. Meals and packaging do not involve methods or materials scientifically linked with serious illnesses. Seasonal menus offer extensive choices, including breakfast, entrees, snacks, sides and desserts, along with vegetarian, gluten and dairy-free options. Medically referred, low-income clients receive up to 10 nutritious meals per week, free for 6 to 18 weeks. These clients are combating cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, including alzheimer's, diabetes, and heart disease, and undergoing medical treatments. Many survive on disability or ssi, and/or are uninsured. Meals are delivered weekly throughout tarrant county. Cuisine's volunteers drove more than 37,000 miles in 2024 and donated over 1,600 hours. We served more than 26,133 meals in 2024 which was an increase of 5,152 over 2023, and more than a 10,000 meal increase over 2022.…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 5 funders to 11 funders, grant income rose $146k → $151k.

6 of 25 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 36% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of CUISINE FOR HEALING’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

CUISINE FOR HEALING has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 19% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

37% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund CUISINE FOR HEALING.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

44% of CUISINE FOR HEALING's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 44% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $478k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
