01What it does

What Corner of Love Ministries does

Mission

As servants of Christ and with the desire to lift up and empower vulnerable and displaced people in Latin America, Corner of Love seeks to comfort and care for refugees and the impoverished through on-site medical, dental and optical clinics, service projects, and advocacy and support for those whose lives have been shattered by forced migration, tragedy, and economic hardship.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. DONATED MEDICAL & OTHER SUPPLIES: More than 18 tons of donated medical supplies including $1,411,758 USD in pharmaceuticals, dental and optical materials, anesthetics, dermatological agents, and health care equipment were transported by land and air to Latin America and Mexico-U.S. border areas in 2024 for use by Corner of Love volunteers at free clinics for refugees or direct distribution to displaced people and impoverished patients. The cargo was largely transported by short-term medical mission groups from all over the United States after being collected at schools, churches and donation drives nationwide. Prior to the Donated Medical & Other Supplies being brought to Mexico-U.S. border areas and Latin America, items were sorted, sanitized or washed, packed and organized for shipment at Corner of Love facilities in Florida, Texas and Washington.

  2. HEALTHCARE BRIGADES & PROGRAMS/MINISTRY: At Corner of Loves Refugee Center near the Nicaragua country line and at clinics along the Mexico-U.S. border, tens of thousands of people who were fleeing government repression, narco-related violence, extreme poverty, and medical deprivation received life-saving free medical, dental, and optical care throughout 2024. Desperate families walked miles or rode buses chartered by Corner of Love from border crossings and settlement areas to reach our clinics, where volunteers, physicians, nurses, dentists, and specialists delivered comprehensive consultations, exams, treatments, and essential supplies. Approximately 24,000 individuals received emergency food, prescription and over-the-counter medicines, backpacks, shoes, clothing, household goods, and school supplies. Hot meals and beverages were served in safe, clean facilities offering bathrooms, washrooms, laundry, and Internet access. For many, Corner of Loves urgent intervention was the difference between life and death, directly alleviating suffering and restoring hope.

  3. SPONSORED FAMILIES: In 2024, Nicaraguas escalating human rights abuses (which were marked by forced disappearances, assaults on clergy and religious institutions, and the expulsion of individual nuns and entire Catholic orders) fostered a dangerous climate under Sandinista criminalization of humanitarian aid. Consequently, Corner of Love largely suspended in-country operations for sponsored families, while retaining mission-employed personnel in Nicaragua. Persistent instability rendered 90 previously served northern villages inaccessible. All aid was redirected through Costa Rica and newly established temporary clinics near the Mexico-U.S. border, prioritizing Venezuelan, Cuban, and Nicaraguan migrants.

  4. CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT: In 2024, Corner of Love partnered with groups across multiple states to educate chapter leaders and supporters on forced migration and the challenges confronting individuals fleeing Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba which were the primary drivers of the Western Hemispheres migration crisis. In Harris County and throughout Texas, community engagement events introduced the ministry to the public, while local sports teams and civic organizations were invited to fund raising and outreach gatherings to collect donations and join mission trips. Chapters in Montana, Georgia, Florida, and Washington State received visits and support to strengthen community involvement.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 4 funders to 9 funders, grant income rose $39k → $282k.

10 of 18 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 89% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Corner of Love Ministries’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 17 of 18 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Corner of Love Ministries has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 29% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

90% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Corner of Love Ministries.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

42% of Corner of Love Ministries's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 78% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

89% of Corner of Love Ministries's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $128k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Texas, across 6 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $997k arriving through sponsors registered in 9 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
