01What it does

What True to Life Ministries Inc does

Mission

True to life ministries brings hope, training, and support to those who are ready to overcome the barriers standing between them and self-sufficiency. Our continuum of services and programs offer practical skills and resources to prepare men, women, and youth to realize their life's greatest potential.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Social enterprise & job training: ttlm operates a social enterprise (a women's boutique and gift shop) that serves as a living classroom for our comprehensive job training program. Young adults employed here gain practical, hands-on experience in retail operations, customer service, merchandising, and workplace professionalism within a high-accountability, high-support environment. The boutique also functions as a workforce training lab for partner organizations, welcoming clients from other agencies for field tripstyle experiential learning. In addition to its training role, the boutique provides professional clothing to women preparing for court appearances, job interviews, or new employment, helping remove barriers to success. Together, these components equip participants with the skills, confidence, and resources they need to transition into gainful employment, pursue education opportunities, and build pathways toward long-term stability.

Through levelup, we serve at-risk high school students with job readiness workshops, hands-on career exploration experiences, one-on-one success coaching, and paid internships that prepare them for life after graduation. Our next level program extends this support to disconnected youth and young adults through group meetups, personalized coaching, digital resources, and real-world work experience, helping participants overcome barriers, pursue education and employment, and chart a clear path forward.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base held at 5 funders, grant income fell $125k → $39k.

5 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 19% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of TRUE TO LIFE MINISTRIES INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

TRUE TO LIFE MINISTRIES INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 46% of grant income and the top three 66%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

69% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund TRUE TO LIFE MINISTRIES INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $131k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
