01What it does

What Readyct Inc does

Mission

Readyct works to advance academic excellence and career-connected learning for all public school students in connecticut through collaboration with business, civic, and education leaders.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. During its 2024-25 program year, readyct significantly advanced economic mobility for connecticut students by bridging the gap between k-12 education and the workforce. The organization provided over 2,900 students with work-based learning (wbl) experiences and delivered career-readiness training to 1,500+ participants. Readyct's deep industry integration was supported by 250+ employer partners, facilitating high-quality, paid internships for 520 students, including nearly 200 interns through the g.r.I.t. And first responders youth academy (frya) summer programs. As a leader in stem learning, readyct scaled its robotics programming to support 306 teams (including 16 rookie teams across 8 alliance districts), established 2 new practice hubs, and celebrated competition wins for 30 schools. Additional impact included 4,500+ students engaging with manufacturers via the manufacturing roadshow series, 200+ seniors completing the student 5.0 program, and 550 students participating in the lt. Governor's computing challenge. Collectively, these initiatives continue to build the talent-ready pipeline to the benefit of students and employers alike.

  2. For the 2024-25 program year, readyct focused on advancing policies that help build the teaching workforce through robust participation on a standards board designed to modernize the credentialing process (including removing barriers to the profession) for connecticut public school teachers, together with some focus on in-service educators. Readyct also maintained a presence on the high school graduation requirements working group, established to ensure graduation requirements are positioning students for postsecondary success. Readyct also worked with its affiliate, cbia, to keep state legislators informed on issues that can impact the education-employer alliance.

  3. Readyct raises public awareness through targeted events (e.g., the annual business & community partner breakfast), emarketing, media outreach, social media, and its website, working to produce engaging content for a range of stakeholders. Stakeholders include students, parents, teachers, funders, partners, collaborators, legislators, and other influencers.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 13 funders, grant income rose $110k → $1.5M.

9 of 30 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 35% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of READYCT INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

READYCT INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 29% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

46% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund READYCT INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

64% of READYCT INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 53% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $2.1M arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
