What Peyton Walker Foundation does

Mission

Increase survival rates of sudden cardiac arrest in youth through heart screenings, cpr/aed education and training, aed donations, sudden cardiac arrest education and scholars.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Heart screenings for youth and adults: we partner with regional healthcare systems to provide free electrocardiograms (ekgs) and comprehensive heart screenings for youth ages 1022. In 2025, we hosted four youth heart screening events, screening nearly 850 young hearts to identify hidden heart conditions before they become life-threatening. Building on the success of our youth program, we expanded our services by launching two adult heart screening events for individuals ages 18 and older. Nearly 200 adults received free heart screenings, helping identify potential cardiac concerns and connecting participants with appropriate follow-up care when needed. Aed distribution in central pa: through the end of 2025, we helped place nearly 400 automated external defibrillators (aeds) throughout central pennsylvania. Through our free and low-cost aed programs, we prioritize schools, youth sports organizations, and nonprofits to ensure lifesaving devices are available where they're needed most. Additionally, we install 24/7 public-access, climate-controlled outdoor aed cabinets in parks and other high-traffic community areas, ensuring the public has immediate access to a lifesaving aed…

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 9 funders, grant income rose $6k → $104k.

6 of 33 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 8% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PEYTON WALKER FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 33 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

PEYTON WALKER FOUNDATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 36% of grant income and the top three 63%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

80% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PEYTON WALKER FOUNDATION.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

44% of PEYTON WALKER FOUNDATION's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 42% give in more than one year at all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $101k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
