What Native Hope Inc does
Mission
Native hope exists to address the injustice done to native americans. We dismantle barriers through storytelling and impactful programs to bring healing and inspire hope.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
On its FY2023 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.
The organization dissolved during fy24. All assets were transferred/donated to the congregation of the priests of the sacred heart of south dakota.
Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).
Native hope's awareness program provides education to people regarding injustices committed to native americans and historical trauma's effect on the loss of culture. Additionally, bringing awareness to both the challenges and the successes of native people dismantles barriers for voices unheard through positive storytelling. The efforts of this program help to inspire hope and provide healing. In 2022, native hope funded the office of liaison for missing and murdered indigenous persons. This agreement between native hope and the south dakota attorney general's office is a 3-year commitment of $85,000 per year. In addition to the grant, native hope continues to increase our partnership with human trafficking and mmiw/p organizations, training, tools, resources, and opportunities. Expenditures toward developing content are part of this budget, including content written by our marketing agency, guest bloggers, artists, and speakers.

Through this program, we provide financial assistance for requests, including but not limited to essentials such as food, clothing, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, baby items, holiday gifts, winter clothing, fans, space heaters, community events, etc.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $104k to $0 (−100%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 9%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 11 funders, grant income rose $10k → $61k.
6 of 21 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 40% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of NATIVE HOPE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 20 of 21 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
NATIVE HOPE INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 24% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left
47% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund NATIVE HOPE INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2019 100% · 2020 99% · 2021 87% · 2022 53% · 2023 65% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
20% of NATIVE HOPE INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 24% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
NATIVE HOPE INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside South Dakota, across 12 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $82k arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
