What National Foundation for Rescued Animals Dba Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary does

Mission

To provide a safe and secure environment for animals in need of rescue or rehabilitation while conserving endangered and threatened species. Our slogan is "saving animals one by one."

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. The organization has rescued large exotic cats, such as tigers, lions, leopards, and jaguars from all over north america. The animals' backgrounds range from former pets that can no longer be cared for, animals retired from the circus, and surplus cats from zoos. By giving them a home, these animals are saved from euthanization. The organization provides medical care for the cats, and incorporates them into an educational program designed to educate the public about the plight of exotic cats. Thousands of individuals take part in guided tours of the refuge, where they have an opportunity to see and learn more about the exotic cats. School tours are also offered with educational programs that can be tailored to fit ages from kindergarten to college. The organization also participates in dna research with the goal of determining a genetic snapshot of tigers in the u.s. To be used to further develop conservation programs. Tiger creek animal sanctuary also sponsors an internship program where college students wishing to pursue a career in the veterinarian field, biology, field work, or at a zoo, can get practical experience around exotic animals. 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 15 funders to 24 funders, grant income rose $49k → $98k.

9 of 79 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 42% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR RESCUED ANIMALS DBA TIGER CREEK ANIMAL SANCTUARY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 79 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR RESCUED ANIMALS DBA TIGER CREEK ANIMAL SANCTUARY has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 27% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

42% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR RESCUED ANIMALS DBA TIGER CREEK ANIMAL SANCTUARY.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $321k arriving through sponsors registered in 7 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
