01What it does

What Metro Hope Ministries Inc does

Mission

Metro hope ministries exists to bring people in bondage to life-controlling habits to jesus christ and to equip them to lead godly lives. Our vision is to be a national model for effective christ-centered recovery.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Metro hope ministries serves men, women and children devastated by life- controlling habits. Led through outstanding christ-centered residential recovery programs, these wounded individuals receive personalized and professional care and discipleship from dedicated staff. Progressing over a period of 6 to 12 months from assessment to healing to equipping to graduating, they acquire the tools to transform into healthy and fruitful members of our society. Metro hope believes that at the core of all human struggles, including addictions is mankind's tragic separation from our creator. Consequently, its programs aim toward and promote the total healing (physical, mental and spiritual) available through the finished work of jesus christ. During this period, 155 men were admitted into our men's program. This number was lower this fiscal year due to the fact that men would come into our guest rooms and didn't want to leave so they stayed for the residential program. The revolving door closed. 53 women and 65 children were admitted to our women and children's programs. All together, they received 28,662 nights of shelter and 85,986 nutritious meals along with countless hours of life…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 7 funders to 12 funders, grant income rose $100k → $270k.

9 of 22 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 59% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of METRO HOPE MINISTRIES INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

METRO HOPE MINISTRIES INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 26% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

70% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund METRO HOPE MINISTRIES INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

64% of METRO HOPE MINISTRIES INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 64% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

59% of METRO HOPE MINISTRIES INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $683k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Minnesota funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $996k arriving through sponsors registered in 8 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
