01What it does

What Hope of the Poor Inc does

Mission

To inspire all generations to radically live out the gospel through finding christ in the distressing disguise of the poor.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. In 2025, hope of the poor served thousands of meals to the homeless on the streets of mexico city. In addition to food, the homeless received shoes, clothing, and blankets. In 2025, we moved 25 new families off the street. This has been an amazing year of working with the poor and homeless in mexico city. Each family lived on the street because one or both parents struggled with drug or alcohol addiction. Our first step is to get the family into safe housing, and then we check one or both parents into a rehabilitation center for 3 months of treatment. We care for the family during the three months and enroll the kids in school. Each person reads or listens to the bible each day, and we have classes each week to help them grow in their relationship with christ. After rehab, we connect the parents with a job. Each of these kids has a new life. All were taken off the street and are no longer homeless. Their parents no longer take drugs, and they are now being raised in a christian home. Each child goes to school and is catching up on the years they missed. The hope of the poor ministry in mexico city continues to grow and impact more lives. Our full-time therapist meets with the…

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income rose $150 → $8k.

11 of 16 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 88% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HOPE OF THE POOR INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HOPE OF THE POOR INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 22% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

88% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HOPE OF THE POOR INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

20% of HOPE OF THE POOR INC's funders are still giving 2 years after their first grant; 19% give in more than one year at all.

Where its funders are

88% of HOPE OF THE POOR INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $30k that is directly attributable, 84% of it comes from Nebraska funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $210k arriving through sponsors registered in 11 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
