Programs
Animal caresince 2008, austin pets alive! Has saved more than 130,000 shelter pets from euthanasia, helping maintain austin's no kill status since 2011. In 2024, we took in over 8,000 dogs and cats, adopted nearly 7,000, and placed close to 10,000 in foster care. The medical triage and wellness program performed over 5,000 spay/neuter surgeries, administered about 2,500 monthly vaccinations, conducted roughly 3,000 monthly veterinary exams, and completed 1,000 specialty procedures. The parvo icu saved nearly 900 puppies (totaling close to 10,000 since inception), while the neonatal kitten nursery cared for over 2,000 kittens with a save rate just under 90%. Specialized cat programs served more than 1,300 cats and adopted out nearly 900. The dog behavior program conducted almost 3,000 sessions for animals in care and in adoptive homes.

In 2024, our pass program supported over 8,000 cases through valuing the human animal bond and offering services such as temporary fostering or supplies, including the distribution of over 80,000 pounds of pet food to community members. These programs bring connection to the center of problem-solving.
