Programs

  1. Tech hubs planning and initial implementation supportwe successfully provided technical assistance to regional coalitions applying to become federal tech hubs and supported initial implementation of their plans, with a key focus on embedding career pathways and fair access to economic opportunity. This followed our previous successful efforts to encourage congress to enact the initial $500 million for this federal tech hubs program. We supported a total of 13 regions across phases I and ii of the tech hubs competition, of which six ultimately received large-scale implementation grants a win rate of 46%, more than 15 times the national win rate. (continued on schedule o)together, the six hubs we helped design accounted for a total of $225 million in federal funding.america achieves worked with each regional coalition to advise on or draft its overall tech hubs plan, apply for federal funding, and develop implementation plans. This included, but was not limited to, creating and expanding effective career pathways aligned to the hiring and economic development needs of each tech hub. This included helping advance their workforce strategies through our education-to-employment (e2e) applied professional learning cohort, which included workshops featuring regional exemplars from across the country, peer learning, and technical assistance. (continued on schedule o)we also deployed technical assistance teams to provide customized support to four of these regional coalitions, along with an applied professional learning cohort for 11 regions. We partnered with brookings metro to support this community of practice, along with accompanying research briefs and webinars to share insights and emerging evidence from inclusive economic initiatives across the country.this support helped regions in the early phase of implementing these grants. 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 7 funders to 11 funders, grant income rose $3.9M → $6.3M.

10 of 41 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 45% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $250k from one payer (an institutional transfer, not a grant programme, largest Emmet Family Charitable Foundation). These are real filings, and they are not money AMERICA ACHIEVES INC raised.

From the IRS filings of AMERICA ACHIEVES INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 41 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

AMERICA ACHIEVES INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 25% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

53% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund AMERICA ACHIEVES INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

23% of AMERICA ACHIEVES INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 49% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $39M arriving through sponsors registered in 8 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
