As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Our faculty: boys' latin is a small school with 605 boys in grades k-12. Our faculty has an average of 18 years of teaching experience, more than 78% hold advanced degrees, and all are experts in all-boys education. Class sizes are small, with a student-faculty ratio of 7:1. This allows teachers to get to know each boy, learning what drives him, what books he loves, and what his favorite part of the school day is. To advance our commitment to being a school for boys, our faculty attend conferences focused on all-boys education, participate in workshops given by leading authorities in the fields of boys' education and brain research, and contribute to local conferences dedicated to the academic, social, and physical development of boys. Boys' latin is an active member of the international boys' school coalition (ibsc). Ibsc is a nonprofit organization of more than 300 member schools from twenty countries and five continents, dedicated to the education and development of boys worldwide. At boys' latin, faculty ensure that boys engage fully in their learning by engaging in the hands-on activities, experiential learning, and teamwork that we know captures their interest and drives…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 12 funders to 36 funders, grant income rose $618k → $1.4M.

21 of 69 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 35% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE BOYS' LATIN SCHOOL OF MARYLAND INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 69 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE BOYS' LATIN SCHOOL OF MARYLAND INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 28% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

40% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE BOYS' LATIN SCHOOL OF MARYLAND INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $3.1M arriving through sponsors registered in 16 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
