01What it does

What StriveTogether Inc does

Mission

We partner with communities to ensure every child has every chance to succeed because race, ethnicity, poverty and circumstance should not determine opportunity or outcome.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2025 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

In 2025, we launched a new Pathways Impact Fund (PIF) program, which is a national initiative to ensure more young people are on pathways with purpose, gaining the experiences beginning in high school that build momentum to fulfilling, well-paying careers and economic mobility.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Cradle to Career Network: StriveTogether connects, champions and supports the work of communities in the Cradle to Career Network to get better results for young people. In 2025, the Network spanned 70 communities in 28 states, reaching 13.8 million youth. 71% of communities in the Network with sufficient data have improved four or more cradle-to-career outcomes relative to a 2022 baseline. We also launched a set of seven outcomes playbooks, giving communities practical, data-driven tools to get results. Our investments continued to strengthen civic infrastructure and increase access to capital to leverage local investments. Grants awarded this year supported a range of initiatives to increase economic mobility by helping more young people reach key milestones.

  2. Policy and Partnership: StriveTogether supports policy solutions at all levels to center young people. In 2025, Cradle to Career Network members reported policy wins totaling $13.3 billion. State policy coalitions played a defining role in translating legislation into action, elevating community voice and ensuring public investments reach children and families. Seven states participated in our Policy Implementation Community of Practice and led policy agendas in their states.

  3. Training Hub: The Training Hub Powered by StriveTogether builds skills for community leaders transforming systems to improve outcomes. In 2025, the Training Hub provided 7,641 hours of learning to leaders across the country on topics like collaborative improvement, backbone excellence and data use. We also worked with the Harvard Graduate School of Education and other partners to launch the EdRedesign Fellowship for Cradle-to-Career Partnership Leaders, a first-of-its-kind program for emerging leaders.

  4. Pathways Impact Fund(PIF): StriveTogether catalyzed the Pathways Impact Fund to increase high-quality career pathways by investing in and supporting regional intermediary organizations that connect education and workforce partners. In 2025, the Fund selected its first round of grantees, secured an additional inaugural funder and confirmed its program strategy, designed to bridge educational experiences and careers to unlock economic mobility.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base narrowed from 10 funders to 9 funders, grant income rose $11M → $29M.

6 of 33 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 71% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of StriveTogether Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 33 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

StriveTogether Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 70% of grant income and the top three 93%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

94% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund StriveTogether Inc.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

29% of StriveTogether Inc's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 42% give in more than one year at all.

Where its funders are

71% of StriveTogether Inc's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $54M that is directly attributable, 84% of it comes from funders outside Ohio, across 18 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $130M arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
