01What it does

What Salvadori Center Ltd does

Mission

See schedule o. Salvadori's mission is to teach science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture, and math (steam) to all k-12 students but primarily those in under-resourced communities, through a collaborative, hands-on, project-based approach that uses the built environment - buildings, bridges, parks, and communities - to show students how steam is relevant to their lives.salvadori's vision is to:- make steam intellectually accessible for all learners.- increase students' comprehension of grade-level steam.- represent student diversity in what they are learning (steam leaders and examples).- help students see themselves as successful in steam. - foster appreciation for, and interest in, steam degrees and careers.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Salvadori has a wide variety of multi-day in-school, after-school, and summer programs that enhance social-emotional learning through a collaborative and project-based approach to helping students see how science, technology, engineering, architecture/arts, and math (steam) are relevant in their daily lives through the built enviornment. Salvadori works in public schools and public housing to bring steam education to young people across new york city and northeast pennsylvania. (continued on schedule o) salvadori programs help students understand the relevance of what they are learning by connecting grade-specific math, science, and arts concepts to their cultures, communities, and their immediate built environment - buildings, bridges, parks, and communities - so they can see themselves as successful in steam degrees and careers. Students learn new things about the city they live in. They see the math and science in the buildings they enter, the bridges they cross, and the parks they play in. They quickly understand why math and science are relevant to their lives. The teachers we coach become our strongest advocates and schools return to work with us year after year. In fact,…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 3 funders to 9 funders, grant income rose $13k → $369k.

5 of 25 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $143k from 2 payers (the payer shares this organization's board, largest New York Building Foundation Inc). These are real filings, and they are not money SALVADORI CENTER LTD raised.

From the IRS filings of SALVADORI CENTER LTD’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SALVADORI CENTER LTD leans on a few funders — its largest provides 50% of grant income and the top three 76%; half comes from just 2 funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $45k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
