01What it does

What Restoreher Usamerica Inc does

Mission

The mission is to enhance the lives of directly impacted women and work in partnership with those women to end the vicious cycle that leads to mass incarceration for women of color and pregnant women in the south.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

Implemented programing for HERvalue and T.R.A.S.H. HERvalue presents uplifting women/girls events for impacted women and girls. In July 2024, RestoreHER hosted a 3-day HERvalue/T.R.A.S.H. Symposium & Retreat in Atlanta, Braselton & Fayetteville, Georgia, focused on women who were criminalized as a result of Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault (DV/SA), and women who experienced pregnancy while incarcerated.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. IMPPACT (Informing Marginalized Peoples Power And Cultivating Transformation), is an alliance of formerly incarcerated Georgia voters, forging a movement through engagement, education, mobilization and voter registration of people with felony convictions. As a direct result of the passage of SB105, nearly 500,000 Georgians have the opportunity to be reenfranchised through early termination of their probation, and eligible to vote, but uninformed of their rights and unregistered.

  2. T.R.A.S.H/HERvalue: HERvalue presents uplifting women/girls events for impacted women and girls.T.R.A.S.H. (Traumatic Realities American Society Hides) - our mixed-media storytelling program provides the opportunity for women impacted by incarceration to choose their own artistic medium to tell their story, and a platform to share it. Often, HERvalue and T.R.A.S.H programming work in tandem where events are held to provide a space for impacted women and girls to display their mixed-media storytelling pieces with an audience of community members and stakeholder. This is also an opportunity for the women to meet and network with other women with shared experiences.

  3. ACC=SS App (Active Community Connections Equal Safe Solutions) is a mobile app, developed by RestoreHER to provide reentry resources (direct services) and connections to combat barriers justice-involved people face when returning to their communities - education, jobs, food, clothes, housing, and more. The ACC=SS app is in its final stages of testing.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 10 funders, grant income rose $7k → $622k.

5 of 29 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 27% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of RESTOREHER USAMERICA INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

RESTOREHER USAMERICA INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 20% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

69% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund RESTOREHER USAMERICA INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

20% of RESTOREHER USAMERICA INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 52% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $740k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
