01What it does

What Preambula Group does

Mission

Preambula Group is a non-profit lay apostolate that provides formation and training to individuals and organizations for the work of the new evangelization.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

On its FY2024 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

During 2024, preambla combined all programs into one continuous set of offerings to parishes called discipleship roadmap. The metanoia project was integrated into the other parish programs.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).

  1. Discipleship roadmap: Preambula Group is a lay apostolate that exists to support the formation and growth of catholic disciples for the work of the new evangelization. Our work is focused on making our parishes and their faithful engaged in their encounters with christ through education, group study and prayer so that they will become disciples and build up parish life in the region and the church at large. Formation activities are conducted through the way, on fire, and your mission programs. Continued on schedule othe way is the first step in a continuum of guided experiences for people to discover what wonderful things jesus will do for them if they trust him to lead them to a wholehearted and joyful life. Over a live eight-week group experience, participants learn the authentically christian way to a deeper personal connection with god, interior freedom, a resilient faith, and the fullness of life. On fire is a six-month experience that calls disciples to journey with others to deepen their relationship with god and discern how god is calling them to be missionary disciples for the church. Upon completion of the on fire program, participants may journey for an additional six…

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $5k → $254k.

6 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 96% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PREAMBULA GROUP’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

PREAMBULA GROUP leans on a few funders — its largest provides 76% of grant income and the top three 93%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

96% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PREAMBULA GROUP.

Where its funders are

96% of PREAMBULA GROUP's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $67k that is directly attributable, 83% of it comes from Pennsylvania funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1.4M arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
