What Ndoto does
Mission
Ndoto works to give at-risk youth and adults in Kenya hope for a brighter future through education, discipleship, and development. Our mission is to educate, disciple, and develop people and their communities to make their dreams a reality, glorify God, and use their gifts to transform their community.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Student Sponsorship. Ndoto's student sponsorship program supports education and discipleship in Kenya. Through Ndoto's grants to Ndoto Kenya, 312 students were sponsored in 2025. These students were enrolled in schools from kindergarten through university. They received basic school supplies, medical care, and tuition and fees. Ndoto Kenya employs full-time staff to care for the students' spiritual, emotional, social, and physical needs. Ndoto Kenya hosts student retreats, service days, Bible studies, and more for sponsored students. The Ndoto Community Church, and all of its programs, is supported through the Sponsorship program, though it is open to the entire community. The church has hundreds of members in adult worship and children's Sunday School programs. Donations to the student sponsorship fund, through sponsorships in honor of specific students, go to support the entire operations of Ndoto in Kenya. 100% of sponsorship fund donations go to Kenya.

Ndoto Academy is a private Christian school that began with 3 early childhood grades and intends to add one grade per year until it covers through grade 9. Ndoto Academy features small class sizes, creative and passionate teachers, a computer lab, the best playground in town, and an intentional pastoral program of age-appropriate discipleship. 125 students were enrolled in 2025 in three preschool grades and grades 1-3. A majority of Ndoto Academy expenses are covered by tuition revenue, and Ndoto has the school on a path to complete, un-subsidized financial sustainability by 2029. The majority of US-side expenses toward Ndoto Academy were toward Campus Dream, the project to build the Ndoto campus that will support the entire operation into the future. In 2025, the majority of construction was completed for a 3-story, 12,000sqft building, and a parcel of land was purchased.

Travelers from the US serve several important functions. They are valuable volunteers on the ground in Kenya. They help to transport supplies across continents. They encourage Ndoto's students, particularly when sponsors get to meet the students they are matched with. Visiting missionaries is also an important part of Ndoto's development work, as travelers who aren't already Ndoto supporters often return home as new supporters. They become ambassadors for Ndoto, sharing the word about the good work being done. In 2025, Ndoto hosted 37 visiting missionaries in Kenya. This included family of the executive director, a mission team from a partner church, a vision trip made up of donors, a spiritual care ministry seminar, a boxing group, and a family trip. These visiting missionaries performed many very valuable tasks on the ground in Kenya and returned blessed by what they had seen and done.
$53,060 spentof which $1,842 as grants$5,830 earned by the program9% of program spendingNdoto Sports. Ndoto Sports replaces the Development program service for now, as it is the primary means of community development at present outside of Ndoto's other programs. The heart of community development is building assets that the community didn't have before, and Ndoto Sports has been a tremendous benefit to the community. Ndoto Sports encompasses Ndoto Soccer Academy, which is multiple youth and adult soccer teams of both genders, some of which play competitively in the official league. It also includes Ndoto Boxing, which is the premier boxing club in our area of the country. It also includes Ndoto Gym, which has become a strong pillar of our community with weightlifting, cardio, and boxing. All of these programs provide an opportunity to reach young men and women who cannot be reached by Ndoto's other programs. They are exposed to discipleship opportunities, mentorship, coaching, and receive a "home away from home" where they finally fit in. Ndoto Sports further provides some youth the avenue to pursue a career in athletics, which would not have been possible before.
$25,573 spentof which $11,649 as grants4% of program spendingEmergency Relief. This program service replaces Student Emergencies, as it serves the community more widely. Ndoto is prepared to provide above-and-beyond support of any kind to sponsored students, athletes, Academy students, church members, and more who face emergencies in their lives. Meeting immediate and critical needs is a necessary part of working in a slum, where our Kenyan staff can quickly identify emergencies that we should step into as opposed to challenges that the community can meet on its own. In addition to regular small cases, Ndoto helped to provide for a student surgery and care for three individuals who had major deaths in the family.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $676k to $557k (−18%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2020 3% · 2021 0% · 2022 0% · 2023 0% · 2024 0% · 2025 0%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
97% of NDOTO’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (57% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $3k → $12k.
5 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 43% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of NDOTO’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
NDOTO leans on a few funders — its largest provides 51% of grant income and the top three 87%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
43% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund NDOTO.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 67% · 2018 100% · 2019 83% · 2020 84% · 2021 62% · 2022 83% · 2023 90% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
50% of NDOTO's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 63% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
NDOTO draws 90% of its grant income from funders outside Texas, across 2 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $84k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
