Programs

  1. FY25 featured a variety of presentations of What is Essential and Who Am I Know at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at The University of Illinois, Rutgers University, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Boston Architectural College, The University of Rochester, and Hofstra University. Heidi Latsky shared her recent journey through the iscovery, surgery, and recovery from a benign brain tumor that had been there for 20 years. What makes her story compelling is that 55 years ago her mother had the same meningioma and she, like her daughter now, was a vital part of her mothers support system. continued on Schedule O

  2. As part of our social initiative ON DISPLAY GLOBAL was presented at the United Nations, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, and the Manhattan JCC in December 2024. In early 2024, Artistic Director and Founder, Heidi Latsky, recently experienced a major life change. She learned that she had been living with a benign brain tumor for nearly twenty years. Much of the tumor has since been removed. The experience has deeply impacted her life and work. Before the diagnosis Heidi felt severe exhaustion and lost olfactory functioning. Since the surgery, the damage has affected executive functioning, mood, taste and smell, and caused falls and a seizure. Continued on Schedule O

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base held at 4 funders, grant income fell $193k → $7k.

3 of 16 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 17% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of LATSKY DANCE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

LATSKY DANCE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 26% of grant income and the top three 62%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

33% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund LATSKY DANCE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $99k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
