01What it does

What Hope 4 Women International does

Mission

H4wi was formed for charitable and educational purposes to empower women in uganda and other countries who are suffering from poverty, disease, and low self-worth to become self-sufficient with businesses of their own. We raise the dignity of women through training classes in business management, english, budgeting, and ethics in business.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. During the year 1996, women benefited from the sponsorship list in the business programme, and their lives have not remained the same. Some were from 2023. Eighty-three to one hundred women received funds within the year from january to december. Others were spillovers of 2023. Ninety-nine women sent their updates within the year. Ninety-two women were recruited within the year to add to the others that were pending from the previous year, 2023. Ninety-two were also completed within the year. Ninety-four profiles were prepared and sent during the year. Sixty-two women received gifts up to november 2024. Different sponsors donated eleven sewing machines to different 11 women in the community during the year. This year we had six events of women spas at bunyinza, kirewa, well dedication, seaside, tuba, and mudodo adult class visitors day by teacher bonnie. Two women received cows from their sponsors awor doloraza agape in feb, and aketch margaret-ham in nov. Details are in the tables below and in the monthly reports attached. The dec 2024 financial report will be in january 2025.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 4 funders, grant income rose $34k → $37k.

4 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 17% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HOPE 4 WOMEN INTERNATIONAL’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HOPE 4 WOMEN INTERNATIONAL leans on a few funders — its largest provides 78% of grant income and the top three 97%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

96% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HOPE 4 WOMEN INTERNATIONAL.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $54k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
