What Disability Rights Maryland Inc dba Maryland Disability Law Center Inc does
Mission
Disability Rights Maryland (DRM) is the only non-profit organization exclusively focused on providing free legal advocacy services to people with all types of disabilities, of all ages and in all settings, statewide.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
DRM defends the rights of people with disabilities to be free from abuse and neglect, and to have self-determination, dignity, equality, choice, and access. As a result of DRMs work, students with disabilities are more fully included in schools; people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities have access to home-based care that prevents institutionalization; renters with disabilities are protected from eviction and receive reasonable modifications to their homes; people with disabilities on Medicaid have healthcare coverage; and people with psychiatric disabilities receive services in safer environments free of coercion. DRM continues to advocate for improved transportation and accessibility for people with physical disabilities, for safer and more humane treatment of incarcerated people with disabilities; and for children with disabilities in the foster care system to have safe community placements and appropriate services and healthcare. DRM also provides trainings to inform people of their rights and to empower their self-advocacy skills.

The organization over time

Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $2.4M to $2.8M (+19%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
