What Community of Hope does
Mission
Build hope and healthy families through a helping hand program of structured housing. Allow families with children to remain together in a safe and decent living environment so that they may grow strong, become self-reliant, transform their lives, and crush the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Permanent supportive housing (psh):our experience with transitional housing led us to understand and acknowledge that some households are not reasonably able to "pull themselves up by the bootstraps and become self-sufficient in the timeframe allotted in a transitional program. In fact, this may not be an appropriate goal due to health, mental health, or other factors beyond the individual's control. For these households we provide permanent housing as long as they meet the requirements of the program.

This program allows families to have supportive services while stabilizing in a safe and affordable home. The fees for this program pay for services, rent, and utilities. This fee is based on income and is not more than 30% of the total income of the household.

We are also working with private landlords by helping families secure funding that helps offset the expense of market based housing and providing case management services.

The program proved to be effective and easily scalable, even in the face of a pandemic that significantly decreased shelter options throughout the county. S.o.s. Has grown through community support andpartnerships to include options for elderly adults and youth and young adults. We piloted this program with the homeless coalition serving 69 people in our first year. In 2020 Community of Hope s.o.s alone sheltered over 230 people and this number was magnified by those served by partner agencies. We anticipate continuing growth in this program. Perhaps more importantly, this program does not just shelter households but results in the vast majority attaining long-term, stable housing solution (92%).ready for hope (rfh):rfh is a version of our s.o.s. Program run in conjunction with our partner agency, ready for life. Ready for life specializes in providing wraparound services to transition aged youth (age 18 to 34), especially those who aged out of foster care. Community of Hope provides shelter, housing case management, and housing assistance to these…

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $1.9M to $5.1M (+163%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2018 6% · 2019 7% · 2020 8% · 2021 3% · 2022 29% · 2023 52% · 2024 43%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
53% of COMMUNITY OF HOPE’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (39% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $15k → $116k.
2 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 1% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of COMMUNITY OF HOPE’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
COMMUNITY OF HOPE leans on a few funders — its largest provides 65% of grant income and the top three 88%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
69% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund COMMUNITY OF HOPE.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 100% · 2019 100% · 2020 100% · 2021 76% · 2022 65% · 2023 36% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
29% of COMMUNITY OF HOPE's funders are still giving 1 year after their first grant; 55% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
75% of COMMUNITY OF HOPE's grant income comes from Florida funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $12k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
