Mission

See schedule o.Christians for Biblical Equality (cbe), www.cbeinternational.org, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization comprised of individuals, churches, colleges, seminaries, and organizations, representing more than 100 different denominations in 214 countries and territories. Cbe advances the biblical foundation for the equal dignity, authority, and leadership of males and females in church, home, and society. Cbe's events, publications, website, bookstore, local chapters, and partnerships educate global communities on the bible's call for all christians, male and female, to develop and exercise their god-given gifts for leadership and service with equal authority and responsibility and with the full support of their faith communities. Research shows that when a culture equally values and extends equal authority and opportunities to males and females, these communities experience lower incidents of female abuse and are more economically viable.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. See schedule o.cbe educates and advocates to ensure women worldwide know that god loves them and calls them equally to use their god-given gifts. When women discover that they are equally valued and called to lead and serve in god's work, their lives are changed and their faith is renewed. When women are given a voice, they often speak prophetically and confidently, declaring the gospel that they were previously unable to fully express. Through radio, podcasts, award-winning publications, international conferences, student scholarships, and international partnerships, the biblical truth of mutuality is transforming lives, communities, and institutions. As one donor told us, "for the first time in my life I have experienced the gospel in all its fullness and freedom. I will forever be grateful that cbe puts forth such academically rigorous and thoughtful literature. The humility, grace, and love that is evident in everything you do has been refreshing to my soul and my new quest is to educate as many people as possible about your mission."as the only nonprofit organization dedicated to exposing sexist interpretations of scripture, cbe promotes scripture's teachings for a…

  2. See schedule o.bringing voices together to consider egalitarian issues at cbe international conferences - in july 2024, cbe's international community gathered in denver for our international conference, "tell her story: women in scripture and history". The event brought together more than 300 christians from across the globe including canada, mexico, serbia, great britain, and asia for a powerful weekend of worship, communion, and learning. Attendees included students, couples, and professionals in secular and ministry fields. Significantly, it also attracted more than twenty attendees from asia: mostly staff members of an international college campus ministry that had been complementarian until recently. Their leadership is working to provide educational opportunities in egalitarian theology.the wide range of lectures proved both thoughtful and inspiring. Newcomers to cbe soaked in biblical and historical materials at their own pace, while seasoned egalitarians engaged with deeper, more challenging scholarship. Together, we confronted the patriarchal assumptions that demean women's gifts, callings, leadership, and achievements both in scripture, history and in ministry, marriage,…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 3 funders to 10 funders, grant income rose $172k → $370k.

9 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 16% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $390k arriving through sponsors registered in 8 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
