What Arbor Place Inc does

Mission

To minister to youth living in southeast lancaster city and beyond to promote personal, spiritual, and educational growth in a safe, wholesome environment to provide biblical, culturally-relevant, and holistic activities to be a catalyst for establishing the youth, young adults, and their families in community churches.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. We partner with individuals, churches, businesses, educational institutions and a wide range of organizations to serve as a cross-cultural advocate that challenges youth (ranging from 7 to 17) to become tomorrow's leaders. We are passionate about providing an intentional, high quality, after- school program for some of lancaster's most at-risk youth. Our after-school program runs five days per week and provides students with focus on academics, life skills, nutrition/fitness, performing arts and spiritual formation. We served students as they participated and were fully engaged in the enrichment opportunities provided at the center. We will continue to offer tutoring and homework assistance, small groups to assist with everyday issues, nutrition and fitness classes, private music lessons, spoken work poetry, and hip hop dance classes. Our summer programs served over 50 students teaching them about world cultures and computer skills. It is our goal to continue to give the students unique and relevant developmental opportunities.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $29k → $217k.

5 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 85% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of ARBOR PLACE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 10 of 11 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

ARBOR PLACE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 50% of grant income and the top three 80%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

98% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ARBOR PLACE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

67% of ARBOR PLACE INC's funders are still giving 2 years after their first grant; 64% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

85% of ARBOR PLACE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $133k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Pennsylvania funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $779k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
