What Yes2jobs does
Mission
The mission of Yes2jobs is to advance economic opportunity for minority youth from under-resourced communities by turning access into achievement, and potential into lasting prosperity. Yes2jobs empowers these youth to build generational wealth by connecting them to high-growth careers in entertainment/media, technology, e-sports, and finance. We create pathways from career exposure to employment through industry mentorship, personal branding, and paid internships that prepare young people-ages 16 to 24-to thrive in the future workforce. Our mission is simple - economic opportunity, job readiness, and career mobility for minority youth.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Program
The Yes2jobs model, youth entertainment summers (y.e.s. To jobs), originally created in 1987 and lasted 20 years, was created as response to the naacp's criticism that the music industry lacked diversity in management positions. The founders of a&m records convened a group of other industry leaders. They concluded that increased awareness of career options and opportunities for minorities is crucial because "people can't be what they don't know exists." the model was so successful that it was awarded an naacp image award for opening the entertainment industry to minority youth, was expanded to 14 cities across the country and over 100 companies hired more than 2,500 high school and college student interns. Eventually, it provided candidates for tv, film, telecommunications, and video gaming, impacting companies like a&m records, hbo, sony music, tri-star television, overbrook entertainment, wea distribution, mtv, bet, and more. Many participants from the original program continue to work and hold leadership positions in the music industry, television production, finance, marketing, human resources, and other behind-the-scenes roles. The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $141k to $578k (+309%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2023 7%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
99% of YES2JOBS’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (75% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves

Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2023: the base held at 4 funders, grant income rose $48k → $547k.
4 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 4% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of YES2JOBS’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 9 of 10 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
YES2JOBS leans on a few funders — its largest provides 74% of grant income and the top three 89%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 52% · 2022 29% · 2023 96% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
84% of YES2JOBS's grant income comes from California funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $33k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
