What Women's Resource Center of Racine Inc does

Mission

The women's resource center (wrc), is a not for profit agency dedicated to providing crisis intervention services to women and children who are victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, thus promoting positive changes in the community and in the lives of the victims of domestic violence and children we serve. Wrc provides a safe place in the community to which victims of domestic violence and their children can confidently turn when facing crises. With this in mind, wrc is dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive atmosphere that fosters the growth of self-esteem and independent decision-making. All services provided through wrc work to increase safety and self-sufficiency for the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault whom we serve.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Wrc provides shelter for victims of domestic abuse through several areas of focus. Safety is our number one concern for our clients and their children. A personalized safety plan is prepared and reviewed with each client. We provide advocacy and assistance which can include employment and housing. We provide domestic violence education and support. Our domestic violence educators help our clients make decisions, discuss problems, heal from the abuse, and set goals for their future. Support groups help our clients get support from other victims, discuss concerns and get the support needed to make choices. In addition to these services to clients, we provide education through a safe start program for healthy relationships for youth ages 9 to 18. Our hand2hand program provides supervised and monitored visits and safe exchange program.

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $10k → $55k.

4 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 8% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $1.4M from 3 payers (the payer shares this organization's board, largest United Way of Racine County Inc). These are real filings, and they are not money WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER OF RACINE INC raised.

From the IRS filings of WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER OF RACINE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER OF RACINE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 51% of grant income and the top three 79%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

70% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER OF RACINE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $33k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
