01What it does

What Tulsa Girls Art School Project Inc does

Mission

Empowered by art, tulsa girls overcome barriers and discover life changing purpose and possibilities.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. See schedule otulsa girls art school was founded in 2007 to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching after-school environment for under-resourced girls in the tulsa area. Originally focused on nurturing artistic ability and introducing basic financial concepts, the program has since evolved into a holistic youth development model. While art remains the core medium, the art school now integrates critical thinking, financial literacy, social-emotional learning, and self-discipline to equip girls and tools for life-long success. The school serves girls in grades third through twelve, with the opportunity for students to stay in the program for up to ten years. All programming, including transportation, supplies, meals, field trips, mentorship, and instruction, is provided at no cost to families. High school students are eligible to participate in a summer out-of-state trip that includes museum and gallery visits, artist workshops, and peer bonding experiences. This trip is often their first time traveling outside of their city. Throughout the year, students create and curate artwork for public exhibitions. A portion of each art sale is deposited into individual micro-savings…

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 6 funders to 15 funders, grant income rose $21k → $188k.

4 of 27 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 13% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of TULSA GIRLS ART SCHOOL PROJECT INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

TULSA GIRLS ART SCHOOL PROJECT INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 24% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

34% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund TULSA GIRLS ART SCHOOL PROJECT INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $143k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
