What The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence does
Mission
Nccadv leads the state's movement to end domestic violence and to enhance work with survivors through collaborations, innovative trainings, prevention, technical assistance, state policy development and legal advocacy.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Program
On its FY2024 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.
Our funding for training and ta ended. However, we received additional funding for our campus work, and for hurricane helene response and recovery, to help expand access to the e-courts system and telehealth services, and to address dv homicides involving firearms.
Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).
Nccadv's programs help meet a most basic human need safety. Domestic violence is widespread and deeply damages those it touches. Staggering numbers of people (1 in 3 women; 1 in 4 men) will be victims in their lifetimes. This agency works to interrupt the cycle of violence, end the stigma attached to a difficult and taboo subject, and free individuals to pursue physical and emotional health. To achieve deep impact, nccadv assists local programs to meet all survivors where they are and works to create a north carolina where everyone can live free from the threat of abuse.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2019 to 2020, from $491k to $1.4M (+179%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

Who funds it, year by year
2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $6k → $29k.
5 of 14 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 15% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
78% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE NORTH CAROLINA COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 84% · 2019 100% · 2020 100% · 2021 84% · 2022 82% · 2023 51% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $77k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
