01What it does

What Strong Harvest International does

Mission

Strong Harvest International's primary exempt purpose is to fight hunger and poverty by empowering developing-world families with the knowledge of how to grow and use the multi-faceted moringa tree for improved health, increased family income and environmental care.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Holistic community development - in 2025, strong harvest continued to bring holistic community development to families around the world primarily through moringa training. Our work in tanzania, togo, nicaragua, india, and malawi this year encompassed the following: 1) providing introductory moringa training to 3,344 people, sharing how moringa can positively impact their lives; 2) training 158 new moringa peer educators (pes) who are now equipped to plant, harvest, and use moringa to improve their own lives, as well as to share the knowledge of moringa with their communities; and 3) holding continuing education workshops and continuing information sessions for 1,751 participants, expanding their moringa knowledge. In addition to teaching the rich nutritional value of moringa, along with its positive environmental impact, we focused on increasing family income through moringa product training, which was very well received by all who participated.

  2. Primary school/moringa training center - in 2025, strong harvest provided funds for a third classroom building, two new toilet buildings with a total of 6 regular stalls and 2 handicapped stalls, and two school bus vehicles for naretisho primary school in tanzania. The school also functions as a moringa training center for the region. The students are taught about moringa and receive it in their food, and the community uses the buildings for moringa training. Through the training, community members are learning to plant, harvest, and use moringa to improve their own lives, as well as to share the knowledge of moringa with their communities. Naretisho primary school is uplifting the entire region.

  3. Solar irrigation farming system - in 2025, strong harvest provided funds for a solar irrigation system, as well as for training in how to use and maintain it, for the community of timbenao, chikwawa region, malawi. This region is struggling with food insecurity due to inclement weather caused by climate change. With unpredictable rains and long seasons of heat and drought, crops are failing and villagers go hungry. This community now has an eco-friendly way to grow crops year round, providing nutritious food for the entire community of over 3,785 people. Excess crops are also being sold in the market for additional family income. Timbenao is now a training site for other villages to come learn about moringa and sustainable farming practices.

4 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of STRONG HARVEST INTERNATIONAL’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

STRONG HARVEST INTERNATIONAL leans on a few funders — its largest provides 80% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund STRONG HARVEST INTERNATIONAL.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of STRONG HARVEST INTERNATIONAL's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $161k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
