01What it does

What Humans for Education does

Mission

Humans for Education seeks to improve educational environments around the world, particularly in developing countries, through the use of integrated infrastructural and educational models; to cooperate in developing educational practices with teachers to promote improved standards of teaching; and to disseminate information about the need to the greater public.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. In 2025, Humans for Education's primary initiative was the young single mothers program, implemented in partnership with narok vocational training centre. The program provides full scholarships to 12 young single mothers from three rural communities in the maasai mara region to participate in a one-year vocational training program in catering, fashion design, and cosmetology. The program began in september 2025 and will conclude in november 2026. In addition to tuition, participants receive support for uniforms, personal supplies, accommodation, and transportation. Upon completion, participants will receive grants to start small businesses and improve their economic stability. The organization's scholarship program continued to support 86 students across three schools in the maasai mara region. Consistent payment of school fees has contributed to improved school capacity and education quality. Four female students are nearing completion of secondary school, a significant achievement in these communities. Partner schools continued implementing wash and school feeding programs to improve student health and attendance, supporting better educational outcomes.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $8k → $9k.

3 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 61% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of HUMANS FOR EDUCATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HUMANS FOR EDUCATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 48% of grant income and the top three 80%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

61% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HUMANS FOR EDUCATION.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 94% · 2019 100% · 2020 65% · 2021 99% · 2022 89% · 2023 87% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

40% of HUMANS FOR EDUCATION's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 63% give in more than one year at all.

first grant+1y+2y+3y

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

61% of HUMANS FOR EDUCATION's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $46k that is directly attributable, 84% of it comes from funders outside New York, across 5 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $72k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
