What Stockton Symphony Association Inc does

Mission

The mission of the stockon symphony is to inspire joy and to build community through the magic of music.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Since 1926, the stockton symphony has inspired joy and built community through the magic of music. In 2024-25, the symphony continued that legacy with a season focused on artistic excellence, audience development, education, and preparation for its 2026-27 centennial. Targeted marketing and patron engagement increased subscription sales by 230 tickets, reflecting stronger audience loyalty, while program service revenue remained stable at $296,808 compared with $296,244 in the prior year. Most importantly, community support grew substantially, with contributions and grants increasing from $570,955 to $983,385. While the prior year benefited from significant investment-related revenue from the symphony's stock portfolio, the current year demonstrated meaningful strengthening in core operations through increased philanthropy, steady earned revenue, and careful expense management. This progress reflects growing community confidence in the symphony's mission, stewardship, and long-term future.on stage, main-series concerts at atherton auditorium featured celebrated guest artists and the artistry of our professional union orchestra of more than seventy musicians. 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 3 funders to 5 funders, grant income rose $7k → $36k.

3 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 4% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $14k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
