Programs

  1. Health living: the y is a leading voice on health and well-being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result people in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources. They need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind, and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with chronic disease, families struggle with work/life balance, and individuals search for personal fulfillment. In 2024-25, we provided financial assistance to people who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.

That's why we help young people cultivate the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievements. Our ymca programs, such as the after-school program, offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive, social, physical, and emotional growth. Expenses include subsidies and direct financial assistance that allow us to provide at least 16% of our youth the ability to participate that otherwise would not have had the opportunity.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 7 funders, grant income fell $787k → $543k.

6 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 6% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Sheridan County Young Mens Christian Association’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Sheridan County Young Mens Christian Association leans on a few funders — its largest provides 88% of grant income and the top three 97%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

95% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Sheridan County Young Mens Christian Association.
