Programs
Education outreach in fy25, our station continued to deepen its commitment to early childhood education, literacy and community support by partnering with local nonprofits, schools, and families across the kansas city region. Throughout the year, we assisted a wide range of organizations and expanded access to highquality pbs educational content, handson learning resources, and family engagement opportunities. One of our most impactful collaborations was with the family conservancy, where we hosted four earlychildhood professional development workshops. Each session reached an average of 35-40 educators from childcare centers throughout the community, strengthening early learning environments for hundreds of local children. We also supported numerous community events designed to put books and pbs resources directly in the hands of families. At the "brew for books" event, we donated 50 books to support early literacy efforts. Through marc's head start family fun fest, our team contributed approximately 50 books and parent folders to help families build literacy-rich home environments. During a hanthorne early childhood parent meeting, we distributed 30 parent folders and 48…

We also hosted our most successful "be my neighbor day" to date, an annual family-friendly event created in partnership with the ymca. Nearly 800 attendees joined us for a day of learning, kindness and hands-on fun inspired by daniel tiger's neighborhood. Throughout the year, kcpbs held screenings for all new local productions, creating opportunities for audiences to engage directly with filmmakers, historians and journalists. We also organized four town hall conversations, convening community members to discuss issues shaping the future of our region.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $18M to $38M (+108%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 16 funders to 39 funders, grant income rose $3.5M → $3.6M.
14 of 93 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 40% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
Left out of every figure on this page: $34k from one payer (an institutional transfer, not a grant programme, largest Pbs Foundation). These are real filings, and they are not money PUBLIC TELEVISION 19 INC raised.
From the IRS filings of PUBLIC TELEVISION 19 INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 30 of 93 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
PUBLIC TELEVISION 19 INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 45% of grant income and the top three 79%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
86% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PUBLIC TELEVISION 19 INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 43% · 2018 46% · 2019 33% · 2020 42% · 2021 66% · 2022 45% · 2023 44% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
43% of PUBLIC TELEVISION 19 INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 56% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
PUBLIC TELEVISION 19 INC draws 80% of its grant income from funders outside Missouri, across 19 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $14M arriving through sponsors registered in 11 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
