01What it does

What Patriots Care Inc does

Mission

Patriots care, inc. Provides top line financial supervision and accounting, banking, 501c3 status and reporting for many nonprofit clubs and other student organizations associated with and approved by george washington high school, a diverse public high school in denver, co the patriots.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2025 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

Patriots care added unified sports.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Gw food pantry the gw food pantry has been operating for over 10 years with consistently increasing need within the school community. The pantry provides free weekly distribution of food and hygiene items to any student, faculty or staff. The majority of items provided are sourced via food bank of the rockies, supplemented by purchases from local vendors based on the lowest price available. In 2025, as the need for support saw dramatic increases due to the suspension of snap benefits, the pantry was able to effectively scale up to meet the need with the acquisition of more refrigeration for storage of items that can be acquired for free from the food bank of the rockies.

  2. Gwhs patriot players george washington high school has one of the best thespian troupes in the state of colorado. Troupe 1621, the patriot players provide a safe space for over 50 students to act, sing, dance, and work with technical theater both during and after school. These students learn valuable life skills from working together as a team to designing lights, costumes, and theatrical sets. We have students on our set design crew who are pursuing certification as master carpenters. Patriot cares plays a vital role in the patriot players by facilitating purchase of items that would not normally be possible within the constraints of the schools annual budget for the theater program. Funds were used for costumes, props, and set pieces from various places as well as wood and other tools. In 2025, the troupe successfully staged two main stage productions, mean girls and an amazing production of george orwells 1984. The troupe also attended thescon colorado, the annual theater conference for colorado students and educators.

  3. Ace school store the ace mentor program of colorado serves gwhs students who want to explore careers in various industries as an alternative to or in addition to immediately pursuing higher education. Throughout the year, the ace program, which meets a minimum of 2 hours per week for 17 weeks introduces participants to building industry professions by having them plan and design mock projects on real sites and work with professionals in design related industries. Specific to gwhs, students learn hands on business skills that can be applied in real world situations including graphic design using a variety of software packages and printing on an array of industrial grade equipment. They use those skills to fulfill a portion of the schools need for professionally printed items such as vinyl banners to advertise school shows, dances activities, student projects reports, and spirit wear like class club shirts. The students also run a coffee cart that serves faculty, students and school events. Through these activities, the class participants also learn business management skills

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $500 → $96k.

4 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 91% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PATRIOTS CARE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

PATRIOTS CARE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 82% of grant income and the top three 93%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

94% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PATRIOTS CARE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

50% of PATRIOTS CARE INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 40% give in more than one year at all.

Where its funders are

91% of PATRIOTS CARE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $26k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Colorado funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $271k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
