01What it does

What Newhouse Wildlife Rescue Corporation does

Mission

Newhouse Wildlife Rescue Corporation's mission is to protect and heal injured and orphaned wildlife while inspiring a deeper understanding and respect for the natural world. Through expert rehabilitation and compassionate care, we give animals a second chance at life. Through education and outreach, we empower communities to coexist with wildlife and become stewards of the environment.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Newhouse Wildlife Rescue Corporation is a wildlife rehab facility that is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to injured or orphaned local wildlife. During 2025, the organization admitted, rehabbed, transferred, or released 750 animals of different species. This was an increase from 2024, when 670 animals were admitted. Additionally, the organization continued fundraising to purchase or build a dedicated wildlife clinic, ensuring that the dover amendment (previously massachusetts general law chapter 40a, section 3) was filed with towns that the organization is exploring for a clinic location. The organization also continued their public and school speaking events with over 40 events and attended multiple state wildlife rehabilitator specific conferences as a presenter and speaker.

Who funds it, year by year

2019 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 9 funders, grant income rose $500 → $200k.

7 of 26 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 90% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

NEWHOUSE WILDLIFE RESCUE CORPORATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 68% of grant income and the top three 80%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

90% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund NEWHOUSE WILDLIFE RESCUE CORPORATION.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $548k arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
