01What it does

What Tcc Cat Rescue Inc does

Mission

The cat connection an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit no-kill organization whose primary mission is to rescue abandoned, abused, unwanted, stray, neglected, and injured cats, and to facilitate their adoptions into responsible permanent homes.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Shelter program - as part of our foster program for the 145+ cats in foster care at any given time, we purchase wet and dry cat food, including some prescription foods for cats with medical issues, litter, beds, scratching posts, towers, cleaning supplies, and anything else needed to give the cats good homes in foster care until they are adopted, which sometimes takes years due to the slow socilalization or chronic illnesses of some cats.

    $10,545 spent
    4% of program spending
  2. Animal programs - the cat connection supported tnrm cats through our colonies where a volunteer goes to feed once a day and we trap any new cats that move into the area and neuter them and provide vet care. Cats are released if they are feral, and put in our foster/adoption program if they are tame or semi-feral. This program also supports the building of warm houses to keep feral cats warm in the winter, and feeding stations to keep the cat food up off the ground. As part of this program, we supported the housing expenses of a large foster home where many feral or semi-feral cats were housed for socialization until they were ready for adoption. This included utilities and snow removal.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $5k → $53k.

7 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 83% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of TCC CAT RESCUE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

TCC CAT RESCUE INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 22% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

99% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund TCC CAT RESCUE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

50% of TCC CAT RESCUE INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 70% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

83% of TCC CAT RESCUE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $84k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Massachusetts, across 3 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $419k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
