01What it does

What Eagle's Nest Foundation Inc does

Mission

Experiential education for young people, promoting the natural world and the betterment of human character.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Eagle's nest foundation (enf) is an educational institution, utilizing both traditional and non-traditional learning settings, but with an emphasis on experiential learning. Enf's intention is to teach its camper-students many different disciplines, but in doing so, to elevate the individual within community life to an active understanding of what it means to belong; to nature, to ecosystems, to spirit, to hard work, to society and history, to friends, and to the process of transition itself. Enf currently operates three programs. Eagle's nest camp is an aca-accredited residential coed summer camp where educational activities focus on the arts, wilderness and community building. The outdoor academy is a cognia-accredited, academic semester school for 10th and select 11th grade students. Hante adventures is an extension of eagle's nest camp offering educational wilderness and cultural-based expeditions for teens ages 13-18 within both the united states and abroad.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 5 funders to 12 funders, grant income rose $25k → $101k.

8 of 26 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 49% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of EAGLE'S NEST FOUNDATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

EAGLE'S NEST FOUNDATION INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 28% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

49% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund EAGLE'S NEST FOUNDATION INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

69% of EAGLE'S NEST FOUNDATION INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 81% give in more than one year at all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $361k arriving through sponsors registered in 7 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
