01What it does

What Connections Education Center of the Palm Beaches Inc does

Mission

Connections Education Center of the Palm Beaches believes to empower students with autism and related disabilities to learn academic, social, vocational and independent-living skills using evidence-based strategies and a family-centered approach.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. The School programs provide exemplary educational services to students, regardless of where the student falls on the autism spectrum. With certified teachers, a low student-to-teacher ratio, and small state-of-the-art classroom settings, the Schools programs are tailored to meet the specific individual needs of each of their students. Connections playes a unique role among organizations that serve the ASD community by incorporating the whole family in the educational process. We provide a life-long, family-centered partnership both in and out of school. In addition to focusing on academic skills, community-based partnerships and activities promoting inclusion are part of our students day. Our innovative Health, Wellness and Aquatics Program addresses students unique fitness, nutrition and water safety needs. Weekly swim instruction is provided to each of our students helping to lower the incidences of drowning to children with autism. Our school nurse program, initially funded by the Quantum Foundation, continues to be an integral part of this program. continued on Schedule O

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 12 funders, grant income rose $385 → $368k.

6 of 28 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 29% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Connections Education Center of the Palm Beaches Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 27 of 28 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Connections Education Center of the Palm Beaches Inc has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 21% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

77% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Connections Education Center of the Palm Beaches Inc.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $512k arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
