What Confluence Health Foundation does

Mission

Confluence Health Foundation strengthens local healthcare through community generosity. Philanthropy plays a vital role in ensuring that people across north central washington have access to high-quality care close to home. Charitable gifts support innovation, workforce development, equipment, and care environments at central washington health services association (dba confluence health), as well as health and wellness programs throughout our region.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. In 2025, support facilitated several key initiatives to strengthen the healthcare workforce in north central washington, including academic scholarships, caregiver recognition, and several key initiatives to strengthen caregiver wellbeing including the kumanu purposeful app and virtual work life app. Donor contributions enabled the acquisition of a security services k9 program and leveraged technology to advance bedside care through telesitter and development of a new simulation lab. Additionally, programming extends beyond healthcare facilities, reaching the broader community through adaptive cycling events that promote inclusive recreation, literacy programs that have distributed over 14,000 books to children in our region and through a community health initiative granting program. Funding supported csi camp, promoting health care careers to high school students. Funding expanded access to cancer screening and provided patients in cancer treatment with access to basic support needs that eased their cancer journey.

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 3 funders to 7 funders, grant income fell $780k → $401k.

7 of 17 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 24% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of CONFLUENCE HEALTH FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 16 of 17 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

CONFLUENCE HEALTH FOUNDATION has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 25% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

95% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund CONFLUENCE HEALTH FOUNDATION.
